Kenneth J. Freed obtained a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was President of the Honors Society, graduated with the Highest Honors, and was the recipient of the Department of Psychology Chairperson’s Award in recognition of his contribution to psychology majors and to the Department in matters of undergraduate affairs. Ken obtained his J.D. from USC Law School in 1986, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellent achievement in the study of Constitutional Law. He is licensed to practice in California and as well as all the federal districts in California.
Ken began his legal career in 1986 at one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Southern California specializing in insurance defense and large toxic tort litigation matters. In 1993, he founded the Law Offices of Kenneth J. Freed and has since been specializing in commercial litigation and mechanic’s lien law. He has built one of the premier commercial litigation practices in California, filing more than 15,000 commercial litigation cases, and has successfully defended or argued for the overturning of several cases at the appellate level. He continues to lead the law firm, setting the long-term vision, strategy, and objectives, taking great pride in his firm’s reputation for zealously representing clients and pushing litigation forward in the face of defendants’ attempts to stall and delay. Ken actively mentors his associates through all stages of civil litigation, all while handling complex law and motion as well as appellate briefing. He has been published in the Daily Journal including a recent article regarding representing judgment creditors in a mandamus proceeding against the California Contractors State Licensing Board.
Ken is married with 3 children. Out of the office, Ken is an avid sports fan and enjoys athletics of all kinds. His true passion is gardening which includes maintaining a large collection of museum-quality Bonsai.
